  2. It’s too bad President Trump’s Vietnam-era bone spurs prevented him from first-hand participation in a military parade. Generations of soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen will attest that it ain’t all that much fun. I know that from my 30-plus years in Army service as a private in the ranks, an NCO, and an officer – doesn’t matter whether you’re in the back or at the front of the formation. They’d rather have the day off. Especially if it’s your birthday.

  11. The Navy received 2,027 reports of sexual assault in Fiscal Year 2024, an increase of 4.4 percent over the previous year, according to the Department of Defense’s Annual Sexual Assault Report, released Thursday. The DoD sees increases in sexual assault reports as a positive trend, noting that it means more service members are willing to trust the system, bringing the numbers closer to actual prevalence. According to the annual sexual assault report for Fiscal year 2023, an estimated 7.5 percent of female sailors and 1.8 percent of male experience unwanted sexual contact. The DoD did not measure prevalence in FY 2024. The next survey will be conducted in Fiscal Year 2025.
  12. The planned expansion of one of the Navy’s programs to combat suicide and sexual assault is stalled due to the ongoing Department of Defense hiring freeze, USNI News has learned. The Integrated Primary Prevention Workforce is a Navy program that hires civilians to assist and advise leaders on how to bring healthy life skills to the fleet, USNI News previously reported. The program focuses on skills to help with harmful behaviors, like suicide ideation or sexual assault. IPPW was created through a NAVADMIN on command climate as part of the DOD mandate on primary prevention.
  13. Republican lawmakers are calling the White House’s defense budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year an overall cut to the military following Friday’s release of the so-called skinny budget. While the White House is claiming that the Fiscal Year 2026 proposal would include the first $1 trillion defense budget, Republicans on Capitol Hill say that number includes dollars from the current reconciliation proposal and argue that accounting does not add up to the defense spending they want to see from the new administration.

  19. Morons Are Governing America NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Roughly a week after Donald Trump started his second term as president, the U.S. military issued an order to three freight airlines operating out of Dover Air Force Base in Delaware and a U.S. base in Qatar: Stop 11 flights loaded with artillery shells and other weaponry and bound for Ukraine. In a matter of hours, frantic questions reached Washington from Ukrainians in Kyiv and from officials in Poland, where the shipments were coordinated. Who had ordered the U.S. Transportation Command, known as TRANSCOM, to halt the flights? Was it a permanent pause on all aid? Or just some?
