Something I do want to mention. In years past, scuttlebutt was always welcome. Someone would come on, post their rumor and it would either be discussed or laid to rest as untrue. That is how I like this forum to run. Just like you are talking with your shipmates about the latest rumors, it's just discussed. Lately on this forum, when someone brings some scuttlebutt, another member will act like you are not supposed to post scuttlebutt by either putting them down or Pming them or whatever. T

Lol I’ve been throwing my two cents in here and there. It was a very quiet year leading up to today compared to last year. I’m sure we’ll start seeing the names dropped here soon.

I did not make it. It was my second time and it was due to quotas. I’ll keep doing what I’m doing and hope for the best next year.

Just got the word didn’t make it. Congratulations to all who are selected. Just lost at the moment and don’t know what else I can do at this point.

Congratulations to all those who made it! I couldn’t sleep anymore. There’s a degree of uncertainty whether my CO was going to wake up in the middle of the night for the results. I think I’m going to down some tums and head back to bed.

Congrats to those who were selected. To all that did not get selected, keep your head up high and continue to take care of your Sailors and the mission. Your time will come. I personally know from experience. Was selected for Chief first time up but was at 16 yrs when selected. Was selected for SCPO on 8th time elegible, 6 months from HYT.  Take some time to reflect, sit down with command leadership and go back to the drawing board.  Good Luck.

      USS George Washington to Depart for Japan via South America

      Carrier USS George Washington (CVN-73) is set to depart Naval Station Norfolk, Va., this week for its new homeport in Japan, the Navy announced on Wednesday. George Washington is scheduled to leave Norfolk on Thursday to sail down the coast of the U.S., through the Caribbean Sea and enter the Pacific by rounding Cape Horn at the southern tip of South America. The carrier will be part of U.S. 4th Fleet’s Southern Seas 2024 event that will team Washington up with the guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78), and Henry J. Kaiser-class replenishment oiler USNS John Lenthall (T-AO-189). The carrier will embark with a partial air wing from Carrier Air Wing 7, Naval Air Force Atlantic announced. Outlined earlier this month, Southern Seas will have the U.S. group sail with warships from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay. Washington plans to make port calls in Brazil, Chile and Peru. An international staff will of about 24 officers from 11 partner nations will serve on the carrier.
