I mean the delays, not keeping people informed, and boards being compromised. Just a very weird year

Yep, just the lack of information has caused a bunch of needless rescheduling. Uniform purchase trips are going to have massive crowds with commands showing up when they can without checking the exchange schedules. It could be like when tickle me Elmo ran out at WalMart years back.

He made a point to say BIG evaluation changes were headed out to fleet soon.

The only RUMINT I've heard about that is adjusting to a 10 point scale on the traits.

Has anyone else heard something about these changes?

And that you would compete against reporting people in same time. Also no more written input. Seems crazy to me.

Aint that the truth, after 7 N's im learning to just accept the reality that the MCPO's know better than I and thats it.

Thanks thats absolutely true, im literally trying to not drink myself to death every night to calm my nerves.. LOL my wine bill is getting to be a bit much, glad I have two wine fridges.

Well now I'm jealous, was forced to leave my wine fridge in the states.

I certainly hope so.  the system we have now is flawed.  I got the welcome aboard P and my opening statement says EP.  Also ranked #2 as the Wing SOY because the #1 SOY was still in the command from the previous year.

Why would you even sign that?! I would have pushed that back and stared at them.

That sends a very mixed signal to the board.

I argued a little.....didn't make any headway.  but I did move on from Wing SOY to compete for CNAP SOY which I was hoping I could move up to Hawaii and then to DC.  I didn't make it past CNAP but had a hell of a time!

Well let the weekend start time to go home and pack up as much as I can and get ready to move into my new house on 9Aug. At least this way I will have as much done so that when I get selected the wife won't have to much on her plate. Just wondering if I would be able to get a little time off of the season if I needed to to move my stuff. I could get the big stuff in a day as I'm only moving 4 miles down the road.

So, I had a gut wrenching moment last night. At 2200 someone tried to FaceTime me from a local number. I almost answered, but then I realized that the call should come from a number I already have. Ugh this is killer.

First off i want to say i am not taking the particular Chief's side, or anyone's side. I don't know anything about the situation, command, and people involved. So regarding the new Chief phrase, let me say this...........

While most see the Chief as Superman/Wonder Woman, who never makes mistakes and is perfection 24/7, that isn't the truth. Especially in your first year as a Chief. I say this to all the FCPO's reading this, if you think you are going to get selected next week, put your anchors on in September, and immediately have all the answers, know what to do in every situation, know what to say to every single Sailor you encounter.........you are sadly mistaken and boy are you in for a rude awakening. I can guarantee you that each and every one of you will make more mistakes in your first year as a Chief than all of your years combined as E6 and below. And guess what? I know you will make mistakes, all of my fellow Chiefs on this forum know you will make mistakes, your CPO Mess at your command knows it, and your CO knows it. It's ok to make mistakes as a Chief. The goal is NOT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE. Learn from it, put it in your CPO leadership tool bag and carry on. Fact: It takes a Chief about two years to find his or her way, and fully settle into being the Chief. My first year, i didn't know my left from my right foot. Everything was moving a million miles an hour, i was wide eyed and always felt behind like i couldn't keep up. And i made a TON of mistakes. But here i am in year four as a Chief, i am now the Senior Enlisted Leader at my command, things have slowed down, i started figuring it out and settling in.

I used to say and feel the same way you do when i was GM1. It wasn't until i became a Chief that i understood the new Chief phrase, cause now i was going thru it as the new Chief. And you will understand too. I tell all my Sailors, the ranks of FCPO and CPO might be next to each other on the rank structure, but they are a million miles apart. Chiefs are charged with leadership roles that no other senior enlisted force in our military does. We are charged with training junior Officers. Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force senior enlisted don't do that and many many other things that separates the Chief.

Too all the FCPOs keep pushing and never give up!!!! You are one step away from joining the most exclusive fraternity the world has ever known, the Chief Petty Officers Mess.

Too all my brothers and sisters on this forum, keep leading, training, guiding, and mentoring these amazing FCPO's. Cause they are the future of our great CPO Mess!!!

Great reply brother!

Thanks for the quick add Tony.

Good luck (hopefully) next week everyone!

That is why, as Chiefs, we train and mentor junior officers. The impression we leave on them will stick with them for the rest of their careers, and could affect the entire mess as a whole, especially when they reach positions such as Commanding Officer and on.

We had that discussion that day in 365.

Not necessarily. Each command is different when it comes to notifying its selects. Some will have the CO call, some will have the CMC, and others will have the Phase II Lead make the notification. In other words, don't ignore calls from local numbers next week.

But they won't FaceTime right? That would be a little weird, since notifications will be in the middle of the night for us. I would have to wear pajamas.

True story. And there was some discussion way back about how commands are rated based on the method and sincerness of how the command contacts those who did or did not make it.

No. They also wont call after 5 or 6 in the evening

Hmm that's interesting I'm pretty sure they said the calls would be in the middle of the night. The Triad release is about 12-1am our time
