  1. Trump pushed for a grandiose military parade through the streets of D.C. during his first term but was forced to back down over the costs, but a D.C. source with knowledge of the plan said commandeered June 14, the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and his own 79th birthday for a four-mile parade, reported the Washington City Paper.
  2. The escalation comes amid the downing of at least three U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drones by Houthi forces in recent weeks. These high-value unmanned aircraft, each costing around US$30 million, were conducting surveillance over Yemeni airspace when they were hit
  3. Regardless, make no mistake that a U.S. military buildup now underway in the Middle East is tangible and fitting to what we would see in a contingency situation like this. In my line of work, I get asked a lot of questions. Sometimes they are on pretty heavy topics and other times they are on things that are downright bizarre. More often than not, they are driven by the news cycle. Over the last week, the one question I am suddenly getting all the time is if the United States is really preparing to go to war with Iran, and if so, why now?
  4. Military families who are deployed far from their homes will see their process for voting become more complex, risking their possible disenfranchisement, with President Donald Trump’s efforts to make certain election policies more stringent.
  5. Talk about overkill. A waste of resources and money. We have the Coast Guard and Border Patrol already. How about giving our Sailors a break and allowing for some maintenance on Navy warships? The Trump administration is using US troops and military assets in its costly immigration crackdown. Navy warships, military aircraft, and combat vehicles have been deployed to the US-Mexico border. The Pentagon has spent $376 million on militarizing the southern US border since January 20.

  7. Black veterans are warning that the Trump administration’s effort to purge the Defense Department of its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) content is sending a negative message that could impact recruitment efforts. (Not that Trump cares.)
  8. The United States (Trump) grabbing land from an ally sounds like the stuff of a Netflix political thriller. But every American should contemplate three realities about Donald Trump’s aggressive desire to acquire Greenland, a semiautonomous Danish territory. First...
  9. After a century and a half of building an economic and military partnership that survived two world wars, the Great Depression, the Cold War and the 9/11 attacks, the United States and Canada are breaking up.

  14. Trump has consistently disrespected the military, insulting those who have chosen to serve and showing little consideration for their safety and sacrifices. He proved himself unfit to be Commander in Chief while previously in office, and he has clearly learned nothing from the experience. Trump has not only continued to verbally insult active duty military, prisoners of war, and fallen service members; as President, he consistently failed to protect them and laughed off their injuries and deaths.

  19. The total cost of the US military’s operation against the Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen is nearing $1 billion in just under three weeks, even as the attacks have had limited impact on destroying the terror group’s capabilities, three people briefed on the campaign’s progress told CNN.
  20. Defense Secretary Pete Hedgehog will travel to Panama next week, the second senior U.S. official to visit the country in as many months, as President Donald Trump says America is “reclaiming” the country’s eponymous canal.
  21. FALLS CHURCH, Va. – How many times will you see a medical provider this year? Will your family member need to get urgent care or see a specialist? You can’t always predict your family’s healthcare needs. But you can know the most you could have to pay for TRICARE covered services. TRICARE calls this your catastrophic cap.
  22. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs said Thursday that it will end a mortgage-rescue program designed to help veterans who have fallen behind on their mortgages keep their homes. But the scant details offered so far by the VA make it unclear whether the program will be replaced by a different rescue program — or whether the move will strand thousands of other vets, many of whom are in financial peril because of the VA's own mistakes.
  23. In February 2022, DOD Instruction 1336.01 directed all branches of service to develop and implement the DD-214-1 within three years. 25. The Chesapeake VA clinic was expected to have more providers to alleviate the burden in Hampton. A Department of Veterans Affairs Inspector General found the Hampton VA healthcare system is struggling to keep up with a 7% increase in patient load and adjust to new leadership. New medical facilities are supposed to help deal with some of those problems. Veterans are assigned to a team of providers in the VA healthcare system. Inspectors were told that primary care teams at Hampton struggled to keep the number of veterans assigned to each team down to 110% of the level the VA recommends.
