  2. WASHINGTON — The nuclear-powered attack submarine Boise (SSN-764) will remain in port for at least another year as the Navy eyes funding its long awaited maintenance availability at the end of 2023, a service spokesman told Breaking Defense. The Navy’s new fiscal 2024 budget request includes funds to conduct an engineered overhaul of the Boise, a Los Angeles-class sub that launched back in 1991 but has sat in port since 2017 when a series of delays ultimately denied a timely maintenance availability at a public shipyard.
  3. By the time the Pentagon rolls out its annual budget request each spring, leaders usually have hashed out the details and present themselves — at least in public — as a united front. Not this year.

ACRB obligation ends at the completion of 22 years of service, the projected rotation date of the assigned PCC tour, or 3 years from contract acceptance date, whichever is later. It says the drone was on a routine mission in international airspace when two Russian jets tried to intercept it. There is no word on the incident from Russia.
