Do we have any info on why they decided to keep the quotas close to the chest this year?

It's strange to look at https://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/boards/administrative/ldo_cwo/Documents/FY21/FY-21 Discrete Requirements (Active).pdf and see enclosures 1 and 2 just missing without any explanation.

I kinda wrote about it in my previous post. Nuclear board just started. All members (including nukes) are listed on one enclosure same for the quotas. Releasing the membership and quotas now will allow all nuclear applicants to know that information prior to the board wrapping up. As for why they are holding the information beyond that, not sure.

Any other graduates of the Senior Enlisted Academy here? Out of curiosity I FLTMPS stalked the FY-20 selectees from my designator a while back and didn't see any of them with the 8SEA NEC. Obviously having that shows personal and professional development and can only help, just curious how common it is among CWO applicants.

Not sure if having that NEC shows you have personal and professional development? It definitely shows that you attended a course who's intention is to provide personal and professional development. I defitnely know some brothers who attended that course and came back to work the same as when they left.

I see your point and think you could make that argument about nearly anything (NEC, college course, "C" School etc..) lol.  We all get something different from our experiences. For me the SEA was a centering experience or a "rudder check" if you will. I had just returned to the fleet after a long stint in NSW so it was kind of a gut check getting back to the regular Navy. The SEA didn't change who I am but I certainly grew as a person and a leader. It is definitely one of those experiences where you get back what you put into it.

It’s hard to get excited... I’ve been eating, drinking, and sleeping LDO for the last year, and I feel that every bit of excitement has been wrung out of me.

I’m just ready for results.

Gotta find ways to help pass the time until results come out!

Before I was eligible I would occasionally come here and read the years LDO/CPO selection threads where people would sometimes post their "stats" to see if they were competitive. I remember seeing some really stacked career histories that I would kind of use as a benchmark as I came up the ranks.

I know what counts as competitive is different for every designator but this is a highlight of what I have put together over the years:

  • SoY x2
  • SoQ x3
  • JSoQ x2
  • BJoQ x1
  • College Credits: 96 (didn't submit my most up to date transcripts this time because I am an idiot, but the board will still see 60 of my credits)
  • Certs: Sec+/Net+
  • PPME/SEJPME Complete
  • MoVSM x2
  • NAM x4 (3 spot/impact)
  • COM x1
  • Fully qualified in my enlisted rate + have all applicable warfare pins
  • Aforementioned LORs x2

Eval  history is generally very strong with lots of relevant technical and leadership write-ups. I've helped produce 3x JSoY, 2x BJoY, 5x JSoQ, and  2x BJoQ subordinates. Last ranked evaluation was #1 of a medium sized peer group. All of my evals since E4 have LDO or Officer Programs as recommended future duties.

This is my first time applying as I just hit the time in service requirements to submit a package. My mentors have mentioned that for most people it takes several attempts.

I hear ya. So I'll jump in on this:

- Awards: SOQ x2, JSOQ, NAM x6, FLOC x3, MOVSM

-Quals: ATTWO, Chief of the Guard, Gun Liason Officer, CFL, Hazmat Certifier, IDPC, and in-rate quals

- Primary duties: Acting DLCPO ship (as a PO1) x2 evals, Acting DIV LCPO shore (as a PO1), current DIV LCPO on shore.

Education: 58 college credits, Officer PPME, Enlisted PPME, JPME

Collaterals: FCPOA President x2 (ship and shore), Diversity Committee President, CCC, ACFL, SAPR, VITA rep, ATTT, Command Indoc Coordinator

Evals trend: above RSCA past 5 years with break-outs.

First time applying as well. Thought it would be my last until I found out they accept waivers up to 6 months and not a day more. Hoping to get it this time around. The process from start to finish is brutal lol

Those are awesome stats! I need to look into the Officer PPME, was it much longer than the Enlisted / Joint versions?

I think posts like this are really valuable for prospective LDO's or Chiefs. This kind of stuff gives Sailors a idea of what they should shoot for (and hopefully more!) to be competitive. My LDO mentor introduced me to this forum and Air Warriors back when I was an E4 and it's been a great resource, though for the vast majority of that time I was just a silent lurker here.

Thanks! As for the Officer PPME, I think it was just a little bit longer then the others. I can't fully remember. But I'm not sure if it's still available on e-learning. If so it definitely a great course to do.

I've been a lurker until 2018 as well. Lots of great info. And I agree, showing stats really does allow us to see where we all are to this point. But not only that, posting stats helps the future applicants see the trend as well for their future endeavors. So let's all start posting stats and give future applicants a good understanding of the FY21 LDO/CWO ISPB applicants!

Here’s mine. I currently have 17 years in. Made Chief in 2015. I’ve had / have:

-Detachment LCPO x 2
-Safe For Flight
-Senior Enlisted Academy
-116 College Credits
-2 Comms, 5 NAMs
-8800 (or whatever it is now) Maint Control NEC / H-60 NEC /and Recruiting NEC.
-Left last 3 commands ranked #1 (1 of 4, 1 of 40, and 1 of 44)
-Currently the #2 EP (out of 16) with only 11 months on board.
-Maint Control Chief of the Year
-SOQ
-SOY
-Phase Coordinator
-QAR
-Detachment LPO

Some Jobs I’ve had but not sure if they matter for CWO:

-Command EAWS coordinator
-Chief Season Chair
-CPO Mess Treasurer
-FCPOA President
-SAPR POC \ SAPR VA
-EFMP Coordinator

Now The Bad:

-I’ve only been in Helo Commands (and 1 recruiting tour) and have never been I level so I’m not that well rounded compared to other applicants. Plus, I’m competing against other E-8s and E-9s who have been doing this longer than I.

But we’ll see what happens. I’ve applied 2 other times and obviously wasn’t selected. Hopefully I make it but I’m also happy in my current path.

Man, I remember last year on the Friday the results came out, I was literally just about to step into a training evolution I was going to be leading and a SUPPO buddy of mine called me right before I went in and told me the results had been released and he didn't see my name on the list. I had been sitting in front of my computer all day pressing F5 and has just stepped away for the training and of course, that's when they were released. Talk about having to shake it off quick and move forward. Training went okay but I certainly wasn't as focused as I could have been. I've promised myself I wont get my hopes up that high again this year but man...it sure is hard.  Especially since there is no more "next month". This is the month!

Congrats PO1_4_Ever. Now that you are selected, don't forget to always find ways to feed what you have learned back down to those deserving Sailors that are coming behind you. They are going to want what you have attained. Find ways to help them. The higher you go, the less it becomes about you. Enjoy your day of success!

Anyone else under orders while waiting for these results? I transfer to the USNS Mercy in July, orders are showing released on My Navy Assignment but haven't come through in message traffic. The wait is killing me! lol. These results determine if I leave Hawaii and sell my house etc. this summer or stay at my current command until at a minimum October of this year or potentially June next year. Ready to know what decisions I need to make!

The date will be February 27th at 1100. I've been lurking, reading this and past years forums and this is the most useful source of information around. I'm a reserve AD1 with 5 years active duty and deployments in my record, curious if there are any other 633X reserve applicants around. This is my first time applying and most likely the last as I'm right at 14 years (hard as hell to make first class in the reserves as a mech or any other aviation rate). This is what I put in the package:  110 CDQAR, Vibration tech H-60, P-3 and H-60 APU qual, 1 SOQ, 2 NAMS, 1 NC, A&P license, certified fluid power specialist, I have a B.S in mechanical engineering and a M.S in engineering management, last 5 evals:  3 EP and 2 MP, all 10 appraisals, on civilian side I'm a branch operations mgr for a MRO company with nationwide presence. The bad, I have never mobilized on the reserves and I guess I'm lacking in SSP. I read all of your messages and I see some impressive sailors, I'm sure the Navy will benefit from each and everyone of you as a LDO/CWO. Best of luck and I hope we see our names on that list on the 27th, in the mean time stay F5!

TRUIC is Surgemain and UMUIC is HSM-60. I was in OSU when I started in the reserves but that didn't last long...
