Something I do want to mention. In years past, scuttlebutt was always welcome. Someone would come on, post their rumor and it would either be discussed or laid to rest as untrue. That is how I like this forum to run. Just like you are talking with your shipmates about the latest rumors, it's just discussed.
Lately on this forum, when someone brings some scuttlebutt, another member will act like you are not supposed to post scuttlebutt by either putting them down or Pming them or whatever. T
A military appeals court has reinstated charges against a Navy corpsman accused of playing a role in the killing of a former Green Beret working as a contractor in Iraq, adding another twist to legal proceedings that have been plagued with delays and allegations by the defendant of intimidation by Marine leaders.
Navy Chief Petty Officer Eric Gilmet was serving with the 3rd Marine Raider Battalion – part of Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) – stationed in Iraq. On Jan. 1, 2019, Gilmet allegedly had an argument with former Green Beret Rick Rodriguez at a bar in Erbil. Gilmet and three other Marines from his battalion allegedly got into a fight with Rodriguez, and one of them punched him in the head, seriously injuring him.
A U.S. Navy lieutenant based in Tidewater has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a Hampton woman whose remains were discovered by the side of the road last month in Hanover County.
Emmanuel Dewayne Coble, 27, of Hampton, was also charged with felony use of a firearm in the killing of Raquiah Paulette King, 20, also of Hampton, whose remains were found July 21 near the intersection of Winns Church and Greenwood roads. The state medical examiner’s office determined she was shot to death.
