Really, it should have fallen on the XO to announce it. That's what the chain of command is for...

so yes it should be updated but does not mean they can do it at that exact time...

past experience is that it takes awhile to update BOL. So even thought they said 24 hrs, they still may be doing the database behind the scene thingy - it takes awhile. But the public version can reach the streets easier.

I see another situation where the person is at a joint command and no one is authorized BOL login at that command! Are there other situations that have put a negative kink in this new method?

Exactly, and it may backfire for those "control freaks" as they revert back to the other method.

Holy cow, I didn't even think of that scenario. Not good at all. So there needs a fix for that, wow.

A new method has been implement with the ongoing release of the Senior Chief results. This consist of releasing the results to commanding officers via Bupers Online (BOL) first, with a subsequent release to the public 24 hours later. I would like to hear your input, if any, about this new method; the good, the bad or the ugly; don't be shy.

I hate to say this but if commands start holding back, they'll go back to the old system. hope they get the kinks out...

lol, as I see the Chief Selection board thread slowly ramp up...

so far they are keeping a tight lid on the triad release so it may be 24 hrs later. I kind of still like the new way even though they have to work out the kinks - some who have the need to know do not know
