But the bottom line is if that Sailor made it and you did not, he or she had a better set of records than you did. etfc1121 has an awesome post here on things that can be done for you to become more competative if you don't make it.

We have to keep in mind that some commands have awsome boards while others, as members have stated in the past, are barely functional. And then there's the stories of commands that don't have them at all. To me though "Tell me why you didn't pick-up?" is just irritating since little information comes out of the CPO selection board in the first place. Keep in mind though, there are some Chiefs willing to bend over backwards and not expect any recognition to help you make Chief...

I don't know why they "recommended" you return from leave except some people just love controlling other people. They obviously knew when you were going to start leave because they approved it.

Well with the Triad I think they could still do that, they'd have 24hrs. Also, each command sets their own policy which is usually no policy but the better commands practice their good leadership of course.

Well it ain't over yet... On the Selres side the biggest complaint by far is that when Triad gets access, they (CO,XO,CMC) do not notify anyone and simply consider it an FYI. It's disturbing when eligibles have to wait for the public Navadmin
