USS Bulkely (DDG-84) and USS Cole (DDG-67) fired a dozen interceptors as part of the U.S. response to Iranian missiles launched at Israel, the Pentagon announced Tuesday.
Iran launched approximately 200 ballistic missiles at targets in Israel, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters on Tuesday. He did not elaborate on what type of interceptors the two destroyers used. No ground-based interceptors were used.
More information will come later once analysis of the attack is completed, Ryder said.
“We condemn these reckless attacks by Iran, and we call on Iran to halt any further attacks, including from its proxy forces,” Ryder said.

The Navy exceeded its recruiting goal for Fiscal Year 2024, bringing in 40,978 new active-duty enlisted recurits, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro announced Tuesday.
The Navy, as well as the Marine Corps, both met recruiting goals in for the Pentagon’s fiscal year, which ended Monday. The Navy’s goal was 40,600, an increased goal from the previous fiscal year despite two years of missing its aim for new sailors.

YOKOSUKA, Kanagawa (Kyodo) -- A Japanese court sentenced a member of the U.S. Navy to 28 months in prison on Thursday, suspended for four years, for randomly attacking and injuring four people near Tokyo in July 2022.
The Yokosuka branch of the Yokohama District Court said Daniel Krieger, 31, charged into four passersby, aged in their 20s to 60s, on the night of July 9, 2022 in Zushi, Kanagawa Prefecture. Krieger, who is stationed at the U.S. naval base in the prefecture's Yokosuka, kicked two of the four, resulting in injuries including a facial fracture and cervical sprain, the ruling said.

Shipuilder Newport News Shipbuilding, Va., informed the Department of Justice of faulty welds that may have been made intentionally on non-critical components on in-service Navy submarines and aircraft carriers, USNI News has learned.
HII reported to the Navy that welds on new construction and in-service submarines and Ford-class aircraft carriers were made not following welding procedure, according to a Tuesday memo from Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition Nickolas Guertin to Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti.
Guertin told SECNAV and CNO the workers did not follow proper techniques to weld the suspect joints with an early indication that some of the welding errors were intentional. Based on the Newport News assessment of the welds, the shipyard notified the Department of Justice over the issue.

is $9K per attendee and covers tuition, meals, and lodging.

Important Update on Tuition Assistance (TA) Requests for FY25
in Navy College Education & Training Forum

Please be advised that the budget for Tuition Assistance (TA) may take several weeks to be released, and as a result, FY25 TA requests will not be processed until funds are available. In the meantime, any TA applications that have been submitted in accordance with current policy and command approval will remain valid and will not be canceled prior to your term start date. We assure you that every effort will be made to authorize these applications as soon as funding becomes available, in line with Navy TA Policy and based on term start dates.
If you have questions regarding the status of your TA application, particularly due to early FY25 term start dates, please contact the Navy College Virtual Education Center (NCVEC) at 1-833-330-6622. When prompted, select option 3 for Education & Training Programs, then option 1 for Navy College Tuition Assistance.
