Stirring the pot there Deep Sea?

Haha. I think I did stir the pot. Not intentionally though. Just trying to help everyone that's anxious. Got an email for phase two planning we have until August 7th to finalize. I hope sooner but that's just what I have.

How are you wearing 7 gold stripes? Isn't that like 28 years? Respectfully asking.

Yes, I have both active and reserve time, 10 years as a reservist and 18 REGNAV/FTS combined with one break in service.  So for pay I am get paid for 28yrs, but for HYT I am equivalent to a E6 with 18 yrs.  the Cool thing is I will get credit for 30 yrs. when I retire.  My retirement for 20 is not until Feb of 2019 which now if I choose I can go out to 2021 and even longer if I pick up Chief.

A note about evals. I see this a lot with HMs and especially with sailors that step into the SPECWAR arena. Most already know this but for the few that don't:

If you are writing an eval for yourself or your troop at a command that isn't considered a typical assignment - have someone in your rate, outside your command read it and ask them if they can tell you what it is you do.

e.g. If I tell the NDs I'm an "unlimited supervisor", that's a big deal and they know exactly what that means. If I tell the HMs, they usually look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language. As a corpsman, If I have worked with ND/SO/EOD my entire career and all of my quals, leadership etc are based on their standards and expectations, then a HM MCPO and board member may have no idea what it is I actually do. Not that they are unintelligent and couldn't figure it out but don't rely on the idea that the MCPO will ask. Spell it out. I would have a FMF Corpsman or Surface Corpsman look at my evals and if their faced looked strange after reading it, I probably needed to change something.

Secondly, being an operator is cool but it doesn't make you a chief. Someone talked about how they ran missions, that's the stuff that needs to be spelled out in the eval. "PO1 Smith lead XX number of people through XX many combat missions/patrols which resulted in saving the world three times over and making the avengers obsolete." You get the point.

Finally, that really important qual that you got, what did you do with it once you got it? How does you having it, make the division/department/command better? "Qualified 13 new Master Training Specialist increasing the commands ability to produce the world's finest underwater basket weavers."

Wow. Nice to meet you, Sir!  I have not met any Sailor like you.  I have a couple of FTS friends my self, and very close ones.  30 years, that's more amazing.  75 percent of the pay check, here we go!

By the way, did you get CSB on your 15th year mark?  I heard one story of a MasterChief who took the CSB with reduced percentage of retirement on his 15th year mark as a PO1, thinking he would retire as such.  He then picked up Chief, SC and MC.  He was retiring with 75 percent of his paycheck plus the CSB.  A true success.  This was during a CFS class back in 2014.

Just got word August 7th for E7 results. I havnt been on here for a few years. I made it last year so I know the feeling. Good luck to all

well that sure will cut short the 6 week initiation time frame...if it were the 4th that would be exactly 6 weeks

Good timing! We are assembling the snoopy team and our forum SEAL team members for a few recon missions. All intel will be gathered and disseminated after @HawkISback gives it a reality check. Does the CNP have a smile, frown or smirk?

Away the Snoopy team away!!!

Haven't had the opportunity to talk to leadership yet jus happened and I've only been here 2 months so don't have too much background on the candidates but on the surface it just rubs you the wrong way.

Test scores low?

Well there are a couple things that happen prior to phase II actually kicking off, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Where are you geographically located?

I'm in San Diego

What do you guys think about a back to back JSOY and the current #1 EP E5 not getting mapped and he's not in a restricted rate¿ I'm not entirely sure how to counsel him.

There's got to be a back story. We mapped a closed rate(AME2) with echelon approval. Get the skinny!

Trust I will

ive just seen good Sailors loss all motivation when something like this happens and it can be hard to reel them back in

Oh that would kill me. I'm hoping not to run into the base CMC I would be dying inside

I'm thinking the culprit is a hyt save but no one what's to hear that

It depends on the Sailor, but my line of thinking is the command has faith they can make it on their own.

I would have been analyzing everything; words, facial movements, and tone. Hope you made it!

Doesn't make the counseling any easier but I hear you

And that's why we are the leaders, to do the jobs no one wants to.
