  1. On military bases across the globe, books are disappearing from shelves. Posters of historical figures, like Frida Kahlo, are being removed from walls. Black History Month celebrations are being cancelled. This rampant censorship is the result of the Department of Defense’s new policies banning books, classroom discussions, events, and extracurriculars that relate to race and gender in military-run schools on bases around the world. At the American Civil Liberties Union, we know that all students deserve access to a diverse education and, the DOD’s efforts to strip them of this right violates the First Amendment. So we took the DoD to court.

  3. The search for a missing U.S. Navy sailor in Virginia is ongoing after she has not been seen since last week, police said. The Virginia State Police issued a "critically missing adult alert" on behalf of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service for Angelina Petra Resendiz, 21, on Tuesday, June 3. Resendiz was last seen on May 29 at 10 a.m. local time at her barracks in Miller Hall at Naval Station Norfolk, according to police.

  5. A top retired Navy legal official is sounding the alarm over what he sees as a growing and dangerous politicization of the military legal system and the lawyers who run it.
  6. The problem with their complaint and court filings are that they are stuck at Camp Lemonnier Naval Installation in Djibouti "ICE officers continue to feel ill with symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, fever, and achy joints. These symptoms align with bacterial upper respiratory infection, but ICE officers are unable to obtain proper testing for a diagnosis,(???)" Melissa Harper, acting deputy executive associate director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, wrote in a court filing. The Trump administration has blamed Judge Murphy for "stranding" ICE agents in Africa, despite the government's own request to keep deportees overseas. Camp Lemonnier Naval Installation
  7. A cascade of other revelations followed, including stories detailing the unusual role that Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer, has played in his work at the Pentagon, where she has attended meetings with foreign officials and issued orders related to her husband’s media appearances. News reports also revealed that Hegseth gave his younger brother a senior Pentagon role and authorized the installation of a makeup studio at a cost of thousands of dollars. Current and former officials told us that Hegseth has since threatened to polygraph numerous senior officials, including the acting chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He has also overturned decades of tradition in the military’s relationship with the press, ousting media outlets from their long-standing Pentagon workspaces in favor of Trump-friendly voices and ending reporters’ access to most of the building.
  8. What an idiot... “Sometimes you’re better off letting them a fight for a while and then pulling them apart," Rump said. He added that he had relayed that analogy to Russian President Vladimir Putin in their phone conversation on Wednesday. (???????)
  9. For nearly a century, veterans have camped on the National Mall and slept on the steps of the Capitol to rally for their benefits. On June 6, they're bringing the fight back to Washington.

  15. Greenland is currently the purview of U.S. European Command, which is headquartered in Germany. U.S. Northern Command is in charge of defending the U.S. homeland and the shift more closely aligns with Trump's pledge to take control of the Danish territory.
  16. Is that what the U.S. has become? ISLAMABAD — Afghans who worked for the U.S. during its war against the Taliban urged President Donald Trump Thursday to exempt them from a travel ban that could lead to them being deported to Afghanistan, where they say they will face persecution. Their appeal came hours after Trump announced a U.S. entry ban on citizens from 12 countries, including Afghanistan.
  17. "I Did Not Know About This": Even Marjorie Taylor Greene Is Expressing Regret For Voting For The "Big, Beautiful" Bill As the bill awaits its future in the Senate, Marjorie took to X to criticize it. "Full transparency, I did not know about this section on pages 278-279 of the OBBB that strips states of the right to make laws or regulate AI for 10 years," she wrote. It is alleged that MTG is still upset about her fight with Artificial Intelligence on the internet and her subsequent "Death Match" exercise competition (she lost.) If the states lose the right to regulate AI, MTG believes that she would have to wear a tinfoil hat while in the State of Georgia when she conducts business in her duties as congressman for at least ten years. In a statement, MTG stated that "I am colossally cognizant of the current conditions and I am prepared to coagulate Crimea conductively. When asked by reporters to elaborate, MTG short-circuited."
  18. The Pentagon’s annual topline budget weighs in at more than 300 pages. But that’s just the start. There are thousands of documents, attachments, and PowerPoints, covering everything from the billions that the DOD asks for to order more F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jets to the six figures the Army budgets for apprehending military deserters.
  19. FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Are you preparing to move to a new location? Now is the best time to make sure your TRICARE benefits are ready to move with you. “You can use TRICARE wherever you live, but there are actions you can take to help avoid interruptions to your health care and TRICARE benefits,” said Dr. Danita Hunter, chief, TRICARE Health Plan Policy & Programs Branch, at the Defense Health Agency. “Before you move, learn about what these actions are and how your health plan options may change.” Here’s a TRICARE checklist to help you prepare for your move and what you may need to do after you get to your new location.
  20. Defense Secretary Pete Hedgehog has ordered the Navy to take the rare step of renaming a ship, one that bears the name of a gay rights icon, documents and sources show. Military.com reviewed a memorandum from the Office of the Secretary of the Navy -- the official who holds the power to name Navy ships -- that showed the sea service had come up with rollout plans for the renaming of the oiler ship USNS Harvey Milk.
  21. Holy Cow Darren Beattie has provoked alarm within the State Department since being appointed in February for his ardent pro-Russian views and focus on destroying the agency tasked with tackling Kremlin propaganda. Mr Beattie, the acting under-secretary for public diplomacy and public affairs, is married to a woman whose uncle has taken several roles in Russian politics and once received a personal “thank you” message from Vladimir Putin.
  22. But for the 84-year-old Vietnam-era veteran and retired game warden, it represented a monumental shift, one his family immediately took note of. It was Akin’s way of taking a stand in response to a country that had become increasingly unrecognizable to him. In the weeks before, masked officers arrested an international student who had co-authored a campus newspaper op-ed about Gaza in the street, the defense department temporarily removed Jackie Robinson’s biography from its website, and the president planned to host a massive military parade to celebrate his birthday.
