  3. By Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Apprentice Josiah Pearce, USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) Public Affairs NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (NNS) -- Thirty Sailors aboard aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) received advancement through the Meritorious Advancement Program (MAP) during a surprise frocking ceremony July 8, in the ship's aft galley. The MAP program is offered to Sailors as a way to recognize superior performance while working in a rigorous operating environment. The command promotions resulted in three new petty officers 1st class, eight new petty officers 2nd class and 19 new petty officers 3rd class. Engineman 1st Class Janceley Acosta Lucena was surprised and excited about her new role as a petty officer 1st class. "I love what I do; I love my job, and I really want to do 20 years in the Navy," said Lucena, who credits her success to the Sailors she leads. "I'm overjoyed; it's a dream come true." The promotions these Sailors received will put them in positions of increased authority and responsibility. Chosen by their chain of command, the surprise advancement is a direct result of their proven hard work and dedication to the Navy. Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class Brittnie Huskey, now a petty officer 1st class as well, attributed her success to her dedication to become not only a better Sailor, but also a better person. "It's important to stay focused and do what you have to do," said Huskey. "Don't just get the qualifications you need, but go above and beyond. It will make you stand out." Lincoln is undergoing a refueling and complex overhaul at Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries. Once RCOH is complete, Lincoln will be one of the most modern and technologically advanced Nimitz-class aircraft carriers in the fleet and will continue to be a vital part of the nation's defense. 4. Okay folks, the countdown has a 13 to 21 window before the Triad release. If you want to vote simply post “vote (selected date)”, I will then update the countdown. Extra dates will be listed below the countdown until there is a 2 vote count where it will then be listed in the top three as appropriate. So don't feel compelled to choose only a date that is there. Also, if you are lurking, feel free to join the forum and share in the festivities. Family is always welcome too. (we do have a couple of moms as members.)
  5. Yes, it would not be the first time I have had to walk the plank, make it to a deserted Isle, and be able to survive by finding a secret stash.
  6. Thanks @DeepSea5342, it now reflects 13 days, not 1 yr & 13 days!
  7. Oh darn! let me fix it before the lynch mob gets me!! Hang on...
  8. PEANUTS, POPCORN!! COME AND GET IT!!!!! @343SBE voted for Jul 27 and the countdown has been duly noted!!
  9. For those that haven't voted, you can cast your vote on which day you think the Triad release date will fall on. Simply post "vote (date)" and I'll add. There is a cutoff date, not sure when. http://www.navyadvancement.com/navy-advancement/countdown.php
  10. The FAQ would have to be a separate entity since it would eventually make the page too large. I did an FAQ (even purchased a data driven software) and it was abandoned - didn't work too well. I think posting is the best option anyways as it generates discussion and responses such as your excellent reply. The cheat sheet is a "to do" & "required reading" so maybe we could add it to the "to do" something like "complete your PARFQ"? (Or give me the best worded statement.) The To Do is now permanently located on the Chiefs Selection Board Preparation page, to the left labeled "Making Chief: To Do & Required Reading"
  11. Ok updated. 11 votes for Aug 3 and 1 vote for Aug 4.
  12. Okay, countdown has been updated, 2 more votes for aug 3.
  13. good to go, the countdown has been updated. The countdown is for the date only but you can throw in the hour too if you are feeling salty enough.
  14. Okay, we are good to go then, thanks.
  15. not sure, hoping someone has the gouge. I can easily change it but I don't know - thought it was dc.
  16. I'm changing the code to include Washington D.C. timezone, is that correct?
  17. Okie doke, countdown has been updated
  18. All righty then, the count is on - any other picks folks?
  19. So the deal for the countdown is pick your date and I'll add the vote. Top picks will countdown to that date followed by the other dates below it. So far we have 2 for the 3rd of Aug and 1 date unsure. Countdown. Guaranteed to stress you to no end...
  20. Okay, I updated the final countdown. I think @navyordie123 will change his vote for Triad release but I'll wait to see what he says. Otherwise that counts as countdown two
  21. I'll see if @navyordie123 wants to change his date... Sounds good
