Hello everyone...I used to be on this forum daily and I can say it helped me out a lot. I made Chief last year and I can honestly say this forum had some help in getting me there. This forum is filled with knowledge and lessons learned. I'm anxious for these results to come out. I know for a fact everyone in here is too. Good luck to everyone. Enjoy the quiet before the storm and take care of what you can now. You may not have time for much of anything here soon.:D AOC(AW/SW)

First post this season, so allow me to start off by wishing all selection eligible good luck! For my sailor, this was supposed to be his last look and so he gave it his all. If he was not one of the lucky ones to receive the coveted "S", due to HYT, he would have had to retire in January. Then a miracle was granted to him in the form of the HYT changes.

Although I work for the local American Job Center, as a Career Developer and Military Veteran Services representative, neither of us realized how ill prepared we were for the possibility of forced retirement. 20 years of service has flown by in the blink of an eye. Come "D" day, we will know if we will be celebrating his achieving his career goals, and planning for another 4 years of service, or breathing a huge sigh of relief that we have been granted the opportunity to better prepare for his eventual retirement. There is of course the added bonus of two extra chances to keep improving his package).  I am beyond grateful for forums such as these that provide invaluable insight regarding selection, how to continually make improvements, where to go to get honest feedback, and the suppprt. You all rock!

First of all, thank you for your support to our military, both as a supportive wife and as a material supporter to those transitioning.

Second of all, thank you for the kind words. Your insight and contributions are welcome and encouraged here.

Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to the conversation!

So for fundraisers, is it CPO mandated what do you get to pick your own? Also, what are the best fundraisers do you guys see ?

    Breakfast burrito sale.

    The infamous car wash.

Finding a retired CPO that has a sweet hobby (like making knives, carpentry, heritage stuff, etc...) and asking them to make a donation for a raffle...except legally you can't sell "raffle tickets" so you provide "opportunity tickets" in exchange for a donation.

Yes it is. When you reenlist all training quals and what not gets updated in your OMPF. I wish I could've renlisted before the board. I've have been trying to get my ompf squared away for a year now. I've been going though the correct process and still nothing. So I keep sending my letter to the board with 9 attachments. I hope it's not looked upon negatively that it hasn't been fix yet.

When you reenlist all training quals and what not gets should get updated in your OMPF.

I learned that lesson the hard way. Always follow up!

  5. This year, I submitted just my EXW cert and cover sheet for my LTB because my EXW cert wasn't going to make it in to my record in time. About a week after submitting the LTB (2 pages), I called NPC to confirm receipt. They told me that 4 pages were received and submitted to the board. Kinda strange why I submitted two but they "received" 4. My Chief told me to not worry about it...and I'm not worried...just thinking about it.

  6. Geesh.

Give the rank the respect commensurate with it.

Give the person the respect they deserve.

Who cares if they have an anchor or bars or chevrons or stripes?

To me, it doesn't matter if you're an 8 year Chief, a 6 year LT, a 19 year PO1, or a 6 month SN. I will refer to you by your rank and by the level of responsibility expected of your position. I will look at you as a leader because I think you're a leader.
