That's another thing I don't agree with about the eval process in the Navy. The "once an EP you get to stay an EP" even if you didn't actually earn the 2nd one. You stay the EP unless you either get promoted, transfer, or do something so bad they have no choice but to take it away from you. You should have to earn the EP each year, but with most commands it is a keep it till you don't "need" it any more thing.

yeah but in the same token If you dropped him from EP to MP you mess with the summary and the group average and that could ruin a persons board chances! In addition I think a good write up and above CUM average  you should be fine!

How does everyone want to be notified about the results.  I like the old school way where the CO gets on the 1MC and announces the results.  I remember I was at a command and when the results came out they called all of the board eligible down to the CPO Mess and one by one they came in and were told whether they were selected or not selected.

that sounds awesome!

Yeah, I was thinking of doing another poll for 2015 "What do You Think of the Current Method of Releasing the Results?"

I closed out the 2014 poll (It's in this Chief's Board category) so there could be a comparison.

Being here at phibcb1 I'm told the co personally calls you if you made it. Otherwise I like the 1mc announcement. Last co have us a 2 minute warning to get where we wanted be when we heard.

Does anybody in here think having the same eval of 4.14 twice in a row with a different reporting senior will affect you? I had LPO at sea on the second one but there wasn't much room to budge because everyone stayed that was above me. I would assume that would be SSP but not progression.

i was told (pending verification) that it will not effect you because the new senior has a different CUM average, and that some CO's try to keep their average at a certain level!

Folks, if you try to create an account with a username that is questionable such as a name that has racial overtones, I will remove it.

(Like the one I just removed)

There's a career Development Board poll (go to the top) if you have not voted

I might add another poll "What do You Think of the Current Method of Releasing the Results? (2015)" after the 6th. There is a 2014 one we can compare it with

I miss the ship and hearing the results over the 1MC. I'm not sure I would like the method above, some people handle the disappointment in their own way. Especially when it comes from the same chiefs and senior Chiefs telling you "you got this"... Etc. Being on shore duty things are a little different from what I'm experiencing. The last 2 years selectees were either on their bupers or someone went and found them if they were not in the office. So if no one came to get you, then you know your name wasn't on the list. Easy way to pick up and carry on.

Which navadmin are you talking about? I read something somewhere a month or two ago, but I haven't seen the navadmin. I remember it also said it'd be about three years before it actually took effect

What's everyone's thoughts on this matter?

At my command the LPO got sick and had to be taken off the ship. The next person in line to take LPO was a FCPO who has been an FCPO for 2 and a half years and currently holding a work center supervisor position. So instead of making him LPO, the chief appointed a brand new FCPO who just made it off the recent March exam, but he is getting out of the Navy in October 2015. The chief then states to the more senior PO1 that he will get a good eval in November because his WCS position is the equivalent to LPO in a CPO board? Is this chief screwing over the more senior first class?

Thanks for the add.

Good luck to everyone this week.
