Now that we have the clarification that will lead some to the selection to Chief, and others...on to Job that often goes under appreciated I would like to clarify a few things.....

Don't loose what you have earned, celebrate this weekend with your family, your spouses or significant other. Remember, if it wasn't for them we ALL wouldn't be there putting in the long hours, day in and day out. While we sit and mentor our Sailors and dedicate the extra hours to develop our them, it is our spouses who are fighting the good fight at home. Dishes, laundry, messy diapers, picking up kids at school, cooking, cleaning and are ready to greet you with a smiling face when you get home regardless of how their day went (day in and day out).

Regardless of selection or not, take a moment to think of those who have coached you, guided you, led you (and allowed you to lead). The previous sentence applies to your leaders, 2nd/1st or a Chief AND YOUR SAILORS! THIS is what should allow you to pick yourself up after the dust has settled and that "N" grows old. Get back to the deckplates and keep on keepin on! Those Sailors are watching and waiting.

It was a FCPO that really was my first impression on what it means to be a leader....in my day you didn't see the Chief unless the SHTF.

Now to my previous statement "under appreciated". BYFAR MY HARDEST JOB IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY WAS SERVING AS A FIRST CLASS PETTY OFFICER. Yes, there are those few Chiefs who forget what it meant to be a FCPO/LPO, BUT BY FAR it is the Sailors who have no idea the immense amount of responsibility YOU have as a FCPO.You are the CORNERSTONE of the navy. You set the standard, you set the tone. I try to impress this upon my FCPO's, if you don't understand why I say something, why I want it done this way, come tell me, talk to me. A conversation between a Chief and a FCPO should be that of a conversation between leaders, peers. YOU ARE A CHIEF IN TRAINING!

Take this upcoming weekend, reflect on your career, appreciate your family and most of all, THANK YOU for all that you all do as FCPO's, and CONTINUE TO LEAD FROM THE FRONT!

I understand that you all are hoping for that coveted S when the results are released next week. I can tell you from a person that put on 1st in 2003 and has been board eligible for the past 9 years that it can be hard on you. All I can say is that it's coming to work every single day and pushing your Sailors to be the best that they can that makes it all worth it. Best of luck to you all.

Well here I am in the nursery again...one of my guys got CAP to second. Well MAP program now but well deserved I was so proud for him and I think of all the other junior guys who complain because their firsts don't do things for them it's crazy my sailor busted his butt for me so I rewarded him with a nomination them BAM! MM2! The other kids sit in their shops and show up looking like dirtbags and want everything handed to them. Work hard fellow firsts and take car of your people liberty is fun but it doesn't pay the bills

The MAP program is great, but as an OS the name infuriates me!

so you're assigned a sponsor?  you don't get to pick one?  the least they can do is let you pick one

Im not upset with the one that was chosen for me.  I go to him already for advice, makes it easy that he is right around the corner from my shop. Also he is the 3MC which is what I will be doing at my next duty station.

lol, so do OS's use maps and QM's use charts?

not this OS! We only use charts. only exception is fire support. I have heard some of my brethren call them Maps though!

This forum died off real quick!! One of two good things will happen next week; I will either find out I was selected, or I am not selected and I get to travel Europe for 30 days. Sounds like a win-win to me!! Good luck to the rest of you!

We broke 100, then they said results for sure next week and people went *poof*.

Good morning all, I know I haven't been on here but, I wanted to wish everyone the best of luck. Unfortunately, for me, I was not given the chance to compete this year since my HYT is august 31st. Good news is, I'm on terminal and working. Praying to see the "S" for my husband and the rest of you. Again, good luck!

Exciting news about the results coming next week!

What does everyone think of the new, more "transparent" style of releasing results?  Do you like that they specified an exact date and time that they would be released in advance?  Do you think it will help you relax more until then, or will you be even more anxious?

Personally, I like the announced release time and date a lot.  I was dreading having to wonder about result every day this week and potentially next week too, but as soon as I saw the date they are coming out it felt like a ton of weight had been lifted off my shoulders.  It also just makes sense; if NPC knows in advance when the results are going to be released, why not say so?  BZ to VADM Moran for the change in direction.

Hey there im sorry to hear you didnt have the chance this year, but reading some of your posts it seems you are a great sailor and leader. There is life after the Navy. God knows what you need, if he has closed one door he has another already opened for you.

I concur with you! It just makes sense to keep people informed and not in the dark like lil mushrooms!

Thank you. At first I took it really hard but, yes, God does have something better planned. The Navy lost out by not selecting me :) i feel like I did what I needed to do...mentored Sailors, and did a hell of a job.
