I'm surprised that they will try to lower prices at the commissary, good move and good idea! 👍

Correction: A new plan for commissary funding announced in a memorandum from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Sept. 22 aims to reduce the price of food items in commissaries by 3% to 5%. The Pentagon initially provided an incorrect savings percentage that was included in a previous version of this story.

Thousands of U.S. service members will soon see a boost in their housing allowance stipends and lower prices at commissaries, according to a memorandum issued Thursday by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

      Navy didn’t understand well-documented risks posed by Hawaii fuel tanks, watchdog says

      HONOLULU (AP) — Navy officials “lacked sufficient understanding” of the risks of maintaining massive fuel storage tanks on top of a drinking water well at Pearl Harbor where spilled jet fuel poisoned more than 6,000 people in 2021, a U.S. military watchdog said Thursday. That lack of awareness came even though officials had engineering drawings and environmental studies that described the risks, the U.S. Department of Defense’s inspector general said.
