FY 15 Chief Selection Board

Recommended Posts

While it's true that one great eval won't get you in the door on its own, a #15 to #1 of 323 sounds like SSP to me. Good luck.

Absolutely. If you don't make it with that break out, we may need to use your eval as a case study on how not to write an eval. #15 of 323 is still a powerful breakout. I know MCs do not like one hit wonders, but your two break outs do not fall under that category.

Yeah I'm stuck there too. But silly me it's my second time there. It was my first ship from 04-08 then the Stennis 08-10, rdc duty for 6 months till I got medically disqualled then I went to teach A school and had no choice to come back. But I did have SOY on CVN 74 in 09 then departmental LPO in Great Lakes. Now just ET1, praying not after next week!!!!

The excitement is starting to build back up again after a nice relaxing weekend of mowing the lawn and watching a Harry Potter marathon with the kiddos! Hopefully this week will end the wait!

I would not read too much into that, I am sticking with the results coming out on Thursday.  I am sure that someone has researched the dates and what day of the week the results were released.  Maybe someone can chime in as to how many times over the past years the results were released on a Monday

Once I believe and twice on Friday, but the biggest day has been Thursday. I'm thinking Wednesday for triad, and Thursday public  release. I  think tomorrow they will publish something regarding  the release date.

Based on what some of my khakis said and I believe I read it somewhere last year they will not publish it on a Friday or the weekend anymore in fear of no counseling to the sailors to avoid them doing something harmful to themselves if not selected

Here's a question. If we are selected, hope does it usually go down? I have seen them being pulled out of work then what from there? I know we have the academy if selected but that wouldn't start till the next week right? The reason I am asking is I am in CFS class this week.

My MMCPO came to me last year to tell me he was sorry he did not see my name on the list (even though I wasn't up yet) so I'm hoping not to get that message this year. Hope I get the "grab your stuff and get in the mess" greeting.

Had that dream too and I always end up wearing khakis. One time I dreamed I was in my rack and didn't hear the results over the 1MC, then my division came and pulled me out of my rack. I'll take that. I hate how other yrs the names are announce and everybody is looking at you to see how you react and your name isn't called. Don't want to feel that way again.

I hear ya there... Been there, done that a couple of times.

My CMC was telling me on Friday that ONE of the reasons upper chain tries not to release results on a Friday is because Sailors on the other side of the world ie Japan and The Gulf area are already on Saturday while we are getting results they are off and wondering what is going in. Makes sense.

I wouldn't say your chances are ruined at all. I know quite a few 7 and 8 year Chiefs, so 9 isn't unreasonable.

Last yr my ship was on deployment and we were in Yoko. Results were released in the middle of the night. One selectee didn't know she made it until she went thru the messline for breakfast and somebody told her congrats. She thought they were saying that because she checked out that day. When we told her that she was selected she started crying. Pretty cool moment.

IIRC, there is a requirement that only 10% of all CPOs be under 11 years of service. I've been told that the number of CPOs under 11 years is so small that it usually doesn't even come into consideration. I've also been briefed that your TIS does not in any way come into consideration during selection.

Results came out last year while we were near Singapore at about 4AM. I ran around waking up all the selects because I worked nights. Kind of bittersweet because I didn't make it that year, but it was a lot of fun being the first to let them know.

I just hope that a good buddy of mine makes it this time. He has made board 5 times and every time he gets the sorry think about next year. He has his Master Training Specialist this year though. No Safe for flight which for us aviation types that is the thing. I have my SFF so hopefully we both make it. This wait is killing me. lol

From what  I understand from reading the forum and from what hubby has told me that rule  has been abolished for a long while now. He only has 10 years and  this  is his  third time up. I heard  the rumor on these forums as well which is why I asked him.

Nope. I have seen lots of 8 year Chiefs around. Btw, I am also an example. I made in 9.5. Relax.
