The American Civil Liberties Union has sued the Department of Defense’s school system for children of military families, asserting that the removal of race- and gender-related books and curricula violated students’ First Amendment protections against government censorship.

The suit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in northeast Virginia said the Department of Defense Education Activity nixed educational materials in line with an executive order issued by President Donald Trump in January.

      Police admit they mistakenly pulled over a college student. But she still faces deportation

      After a review of dash cam footage from the traffic stop on May 5, “it was determined that Ms. Arias-Cristobal’s vehicle appeared similar to the offending vehicle but was not the vehicle that made an improper turn,” according to a statement from the Dalton Police Department. When police in Dalton, Georgia pulled over Ximena Arias-Cristobal, officers accused the 19-year-old college student of making an illegal right turn at a red light. She told officers she didn’t have her international driver’s license on her, according to a police report, and she was taken into custody. Then she was moved to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center roughly four hours away, and now she faces the possibility of being removed from the country along with her family.

      Eval question for LTB

      Hi all, I'm having difficulty with a rather unique eval issue that I'm having and am requesting assistance on how to rectify it (if possible) or how to present this question in my LTB. I was originally on Active Duty from 2000-2004. I received my E5 eval in the regular cycle in Mar 04, then I departed the ship in June, went on terminal, and got out into the IRR. Fast forward to 2016 and I come back into the reserves. In my evals, it's showing a gap from Mar 2004 to Oct 2016 when I got back in. I believe the error was that due to chaos in my chain of command at the time, I did not receive an exit eval from the ship upon my departure. My questions are: How do I address/rectify this? How would the board view it? If unable to rectify, how would I present this to the board? Thanks so much.
