  3. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the Navy is a set of policies and programs that promote the fair treatment of all people. DEI aims to create a culture of inclusion where everyone feels welcome and can perform to their full potential.

Why is DEI important in the Navy?

DEI can help the Navy achieve its mission by harnessing the creative powers of a diverse team. DEI can help the Navy sustain a sharp team that embraces people achieving their highest potential.

A non-inclusive environment, where some are intentionally excluded, can negatively impact the mission of the U.S. Navy.

  5. The Threat from Within – The Trump Administration

Our country is under threat from within. There is no doubt that the current administration, led by Trump, is using deceit and leadership positions to circumvent the constitution. What makes matters worse are the people who follow and join in this deception that is damaging to our Constitutional Republic. Separately, the current administration is causing economic chaos within our country and to our allies alike. It has only started but the telling signs are in the stocks and bonds that have moved in an erratic fashion unlike anything we have ever seen happen. Keep an eye on your 401K if you have one.

Our country was built on the foundation of liberty, equality, justice, popular sovereignty, and rule of law. It is enshrined in documents such as the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence which emphasize that all individuals have rights that should be protected equally.

This forum includes articles on topics/ incidents that go against the constitution, the Declaration of Independence and current laws that were put in place by “We the People,” that protect us from tyranny and illegal or immoral acts that are occurring on almost a weekly basis. Topics in this area may not be strictly military but cover our rights and freedom that many of us swore to uphold.

    • Military retirees and disabled veterans will receive 2.8% increases to their monthly paychecks for 2026, thanks to the annual Cost of Living Adjustment, or COLA, tied to inflation. The 2.8% raise for 2026 is up from 2.5 % in 2025 after a string of raises as high as 8.7% in 2023.
    • As if there isn't enough going on... 🙄 WASHINGTON—The Pentagon said it is sending the Navy’s most advanced aircraft carrier to the Caribbean in a major escalation of the Trump administration’s military campaign to target drug smugglers and threaten governments in Latin America. Secretary of WAAH  Hedgehog ordered the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier, which is currently deployed in the Mediterranean, to the Caribbean, bringing dozens more fighter and surveillance aircraft, along with other Navy warships that accompany a carrier, officials said.
    • The Trump administration made it clear from its earliest days this year that it wanted to change the culture of the U.S. military. One effort targeted books about race, gender and sexuality in the libraries of military-based schools that service members' children attend. But, this week, a federal judge ruled that the books taken off the shelves had to be returned and the curriculum of the military changed had to be restored. Before the ruling, Nick Schifrin and producer Dan Sagalyn traveled outside Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to speak to military families that fought through the courts for our series Art in Action, exploring the intersection of art and democracy, part of our Canvas coverage.
