Navy Looks to Punish 3 Top Officers Overseeing Navy SEAL Training After Recruit Death

The Naval Special Warfare Command that oversees the Navy SEAL BUD/S training program intends to take disciplinary action against three top officers who were in leadership roles during the death of a SEAL trainee last year, according to the service.

A Navy official confirmed to Military.com that Capt. Brian Drechsler, Capt. Bradley Geary and Cmdr. Erik Ramey were notified that the service intends to take them to admiral's mast -- a nonjudicial form of punishment -- over their roles in the death.

      Carrier USS Ronald Reagan Underway from Japan After 11-Day Delay

      Carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) got underway on Friday after canceling its departure six times since Sept. 18. Meanwhile, the Navy’s two Ghost Fleet unmanned surface vessel prototypes, which pulled into Yokosuka on Sept. 18, carried out drills on Wednesday with a U.S. Littoral Combat Ship and a Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) frigate. Reagan departed at 9.55 a.m. local time according to the Yokosuka city government. The Navy routinely informs the Japanese government of the departures and arrivals of U.S. nuclear-powered carriers at Japanese ports. The government, via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then informs the relevant city government, which publishes the information as a matter of public interest.
