Do you ever have connectivity with those things reading properly whilst at home? I had to backdoor into NKO to finish PPME bc my stupid CAC reader wouldnt function properly. Just chatting, lol.

I don't have one at home, so i I can't say.  If I have issues, it'll get hit with a hammer though

I finally got mineses set up to work 100% of the time. **Just remember that NAC will let you log in but not see Profile Sheets, etc from home; requires a .mil domain.

Strange - looking at the CPO selection board page of Bupers NPC, the NAVADMIN is showing up (still not linked) above the precepts, which is on the bottom? I think someone is messing with the eligibles.

No, I think it was more of a convenience thing, they always have it ready so they can add the link (He's talking about this page -> CPO Selection Boards )  BBb)

I am at 16 years though and slowly giving up hope.

Wrong! Never give up hope. I made it at 4 months shy of my 19 year mark. You have plenty of time left. Looking at what you posted above, is it safe to say that eval was from 2011? If so, it will have dropped off the radar well before you hit HYT. Keep taking care of your Sailors, and for heaven's sake, control your temper! ;)

Chief, it was fy11. Issue is I'm not willing to stay past twenty. So if I make it much past this point it'll have little effect on anything. Plus I'm at a new command, starting over and trying to find my way. I truly believe of I can't make it this year it'll be too late to matter when I do make it. .

Temper is better. I sought a year of counseling after my incident.

There's nothing that says if you make Chief you have to stay past 20. You may be in a situation where you don't hit high 3 at E7, but don't count yourself out, and certainly don't give up. Maybe a fresh start at a new command will do you well. And the fact that you willingly went to counseling for your temper says a lot. As Joe Dirt would say, "Just keep on keepin' on!"

It will matter to someone because theirs a junior sailor somewhere looking up to you!

Very true.

If that's how your thinking than you've already given up. It will matter to someone because theirs a junior sailor somewhere looking up to you!

Giving up hope for wearing anchors doesn't change how I am as a sailor. I've never done anything in the navy to advance. I've done everything because I enjoy what I do and I'm good at it.

There's a difference between accepting fate and outwardly giving up and acting the part.

Well said. Very close to how I feel myself. This is my 6th time up for CPO & I hit 18 years in January. Trying to wrap my head around the possibility of going past 20 years is difficult for me. Honestly, I'm ready to move past the Navy soon. I won't stop trying but at this point it is becoming more difficult to hear "Next year will be your year".

Past 20 isn't an option. Wife is ready to move to her companies bigger facility and she makes way more money than me. So, what her career needs is what I'll support.

True story. My wife has accepted a better paying job in North Texas where she will start next Summer. I'm stationed here in SoCal until HYT. We are having a hard time dealing with 2 years apart already but if I make it this time around I know I'd have to go to 22 to qualify for High 3. Just difficult to handle.

sorry for seeming ignorant....High-3?

I did two years as a geo in 2008/2009 then followed it up with an arduous sea tour. She'd leave me at this point if I told her I was staying in lol

Retirement is based on your highest 3 years of pay.

I've had a card reader since 2009.  It came in Handy when NCIS confiscated all the computers in the shop at my last command.  I tethered my cell phone to my laptop at work, and used the card reader to get on my email, and other sites useful for work stuff.  As for the going past 20 if you pick up chief.  While I was on beach det waiting to transfer out of my last command I had a YNC tell me that she had her fleet reserve request denied when she hit 20.  Makes me wonder how many chiefs that plan on getting out at 20 this happens to?

The Navy is just a big social petrie dish experiment. It's not one size fits all and I get where you are coming from but please remember that EAOS stands for Expiration of Active Obligated Service and you're not there yet, not saying this applies but please don't check out early.

You're right, I've checked out early. Ssoy and 2 #1 EP evals because I'm coasting.

The point of the post was at a certain point in it career you have to look beyond the navy. And that regardless of advancement of retirement pay 20 years is the end of the road. .

how is recruiting duty in Alaska, I am on recruiting duty in New Jersey

It is tough! I love Alaska but the market is hard, the numbers and politics that drive recruiting is the most frustrating thing I have ever dealt with in my 13.5 years in. I asked my Chief Recruiter for the hardest assignment hoping to show that taking out of the box jobs and knock it out of the park and have and in shaping our future sailors and I got what I asked for. I'm pretty sure I'm the most remote one man station in the U.S. But I love it up here. Recruiting is almost like a whole different Navy.

You mad, bro? haha. I said I didn't know if it applied, and I realize you're the SSOY, as you stated before, just cleaning up the rough edges.

Not mad, but I don't need judged based off assumptions

Maaaaaaannnnnnn it is TENSE in here! I have lurked for years and never seen any one intentionally judge or provoke without Tony promptly exploding it to smitherines... I think we need a little of that holding hands and campfire songs talked about a few pages ago.
