PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy is sharing his story after hearing about three sailors at Naval Station Norfolk who died by suicide earlier this month.

The veteran, who asked that we hide his identity, retired in 2010 after serving 20 years. He tells 10 On Your Side the system is broken when it comes to mental health and that he would know–he attempted to take his own life in 2007.

      CFL/ACFL’s PRIMS-2 Updates - 17 APR 24

      CFL/ACFL’s PRIMS-2 UPDATES: Dual users of PRIMS-2 in Salesforce (i.e. CPPA and CFL or CPPA and ACFL) are still experiencing log in issues. A solution to fix this is underway, and we anticipate this to be corrected when we deploy another update, which is scheduled for the end of April. In regard to the inability to export / print PARFQs and med waivers within MNP., we anticipate having it resolved by the end of April. We are still experiencing issues with CFL/ACFLs not being able to see current or previous PFA records. We anticipate having this issue resolved at the end of April as well. Physical Readiness appreciates your patience and understanding as they work to get these issues resolved as soon as possible

      ‘Consequences of War’–Veterans Incarcerated at Higher Rates and Face Longer Sentences

      Late in the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2001, Brockton Hunter, a defense attorney in Minnesota, was having drinks with a friend from law school. Hunter had served in the Army before becoming a lawyer; his friend had been in the CIA. The conversation turned from that day’s devastating attacks to what they felt would inevitably follow. “Both of us understood that we were going to be going to war like we hadn’t since Vietnam,” Hunter said.
