Sailors eligible to advance to Chief Petty Officer (CPO) for the upcoming Active Duty Cycle 246 will compete against peers for selection board eligibility. Only the top 60% of the rank order in each rating will be E7 selection board eligible (SBE). The rank order is based off only two factors - Reporting Senior Cumulative Average (RSCA) Performance Mark Average (PMA) and the candidates exam Standard Score (SS).

RSCA PMA will be calculated in the Enlisted Advancement Worksheet using the last three years of performance evaluations, and your SS is determined by how many questions you answer correctly on the exam compared to peers. The Active Duty E7 Navy-wide exam will be administered on January 16, 2020.

Exam scores range from 20 to 80, with an 80 going to the CPO candidate in a rating with the most correct responses. Exam specific bibliographies are available on MyNavy Portal and the Navy COOL website. E7 SBE results will be made available to command triads in early March. Refer to NAVADMIN 238/19 for more information. Good luck to all candidates!
