The Navy allows Sailors selected for advancement to wear the uniform of the next-higher pay grade before being advanced. This process is called frocking. Advancement dates from each cycle are spread out, with the majority of Sailors advanced in the final pay increment. For example, E4-E6 Sailors selected for advancement in the fall cycle (November) are incremented from January through June, with the majority of advancements occurring in June. An email service is available on the profile sheet, and by signing up the system will notify you whenever your advancement status changes, to include pay increment notification.
