I remember some scuttlebutt about the one that got held up until just before pinning. And, remember this is only scuttlebutt. Supposedly while pulling the string during the investigation some..... irregularities...... were found concerning the names on the list. At least why they stacked up the way they did. As a result, as the scuttlebutt puts it, they basically had to do the board over for some if not all the rates. That is what I heard any way. But, you know me. I am not one to spread gossip.

If there is a hint of discrepancy, they will investigate thoroughly. And I don't know why anyone at the pinnacle of their career would jeopardize their position by breaking the oath or honor code.

I don't get it either. We could launch into a big discussion over oaths, honor code, and even about Honor, Courage, Commitment. It is way simpler than even all of that. Just little old (and I can't believe I am about to use this term in a normal conversation) basic ORM says it is not worth it at any level.

Yes! Yes! And, I will use it to raise an army, and build an empire! When I reach the pinnacle I will retire to an island just after the revolt!

On second thought.... Now that I think about it. Revolts never turn out good for the people on top. Which would be me. I'm going to go rethink this plan.

At least it is entertainment for the time being. Better to read about some "what I heard" stories than to obsess over my OMPF anymore!

Every notice that when ever someone tells you they "heard from a very reliable source." Whatever they tell you next is anything but.

By the way. Just so you know. Mind tricks don't work on it. Believe me. I tried!

But, I heard from a very reliable source that if you push the power switch on your monitor all the bad stuff goes away. Just be careful, the good stuff may go away to. :D

Another question just to help make the time go by like this forum has helped me with, does it bother you when the Chiefs start calling you Chief Select before the results come out? I've been called YNC Select about a million times by now and it makes me feel an array of emotions from excitement to anger and everything in between. I'm not feeling hazed or anything like that, I just will be so disappointed if I don't make it that I don't want to get my hopes up too high. Somebody here has to be with me on this!

There was discussion on here earlier about that subject. About the build up and subsequent drop if not selected. And, was it worth it. Over all I think it is. However, in your case it is a bit different. Comments like "This is your year," or "There is no way you are not getting selected this year!" Was more what the conversation was geared toward. The actual use of the term "Select" before the results are out is over the line in several ways. Much for some would be like wearing a warfare qualification somewhere on you before you have earned it. While some I think have their hearts in the right place. That subsequent potential drop can not be ignored. So in your case I think it may be over the line of good taste. Others may be baiting you to see how you react to it. How I handled situations like that was with something along the lines of: "Thanks. But, not yet. We'll see when the results come out."

Yes, it's rather tiresome. I'm just ready for the end one way or other. It's like the scene in the Godfather. When Mike is in Cuba talking to the old man Roth.  Either I will be a chief or I won't. But sweet baby Jesus just let us know.

I was reading on the goat locker in 07 the results came out 7 days after adjourning.  The MC who penned the article was saying it was an intentional effort to limit the training window.

Hey! Now that nobody just mentioned it! There was a post awhile back about guessing the number of pages we were going to get to before the results came out. Anything ever happen with that?

Yeah I know what you mean 100% as well being I'm a YN (non sub type).  You want to own it and feel like it's yours, however you want it to be official vice the perception of others, although its not a bad perception to be made.  Again, I take it with a grain of salt and  reflect on not only this year and all that was accomplished, but the views of the Chiefs and Officers and junior Sailors not only under me directly but throughout the command and how they perceive me.  The best feeling I've had is when I get asked by a junior Sailor to be their mentor and I know if I get selected that feeling can't replace the feeling I get when I get asked that question.  That truly touches a place somewhere deep down in the soul.

Well in the Submarine Force it always tends to fall a little over the line which I'm fine with. I know they are doing it in good fun and it doesn't bother me that much, but it does make me even more anxious when I hear it.

I should have took me a vacation with family  later in the summer, but I'm glad I didn't because all I would do is just look at my phone. I was thinking about how the results are just on someone's desk. Names and all. Crazy...

Don't worry. I am sure it is waiting in a very nice folder.

Sorry about the delayed response. I was catching up with-Uh! Shinny!....... Hi! Can I help you?

I had made a post about it awhile ago and a couple people responded. I think the highest number was in the 80s.

No way, I am predicting that we break 100. It always fires up on here the last week or so before the release.

I totally agree with you on that one. I think it'll be around 120 or so, that's what it was last year or close to that.

I would rather have a Chief say they want me to be in the Mess than to call me "select" (before I earned it) 100 times over. My old LCPO text me today to say he cant wait for the results and that he was rooting for me, which was a pretty awesome feeling.

I had the same thing almost, my old chief called me out of the blue to see how things were going. It was a good thing don't get me wrong and I don't know if it's my nerves waiting on the results but it tripped me out cause I haven't talked to him since April.

It's always that last week or so when people blow it up to see if everyone is just as nervous as they are! And believe me I am just as guilty of it!! :P

Oh I am too. I know my wife is ready for this to be over with as well. She is tired of hearing about it lol.

No, but I never have before. I didn't know they said anything about it until I read it on here. I just know in the NAVADMIN it says July 15 the board adjourns.

I looked back at last years navadmins and didn't see anything. Like you said I have never seen anything about the board adjourning navadmin.

in the days of yore, an admin type would post on this forum when the board adjourned. Since the method changed to the Triad release, there has been less importance placed on that event. For my part, I'd still like to know.

I'll explain the cuss word guidelines as best I can. I've already mentioned about how family members visit this forum to see if they can get any information on their loved ones that they cannot communicate with for various legitimate reasons.

When someone  makes a post with a word that is filtered such as S#!t, someone uninitiated will feel compelled to spell out the complete word in their posts. That is not all. True to form, talk will (and has) degenerate to a very low form because people for some reason think they can do that on this forum - they cannot. The worst one on this forum? Discussion of sex in s#!t.

So your post may seem innocent enough but for others, innocent is in the eye of the beholder. And the guidelines also mention not to respond to a post that has broken the guidelines for the very reason of not allowing it to degenerate any further.
