Last year I was eligible but, didn't have all this stuff so, praying this tipped me over the top. Prayers going out for you as well

i feel you.  i completed PPME, JPME, USMAPS, AS Degree and still going, ACFL, SAPR, great evals, last one stated acting LCPO #2 of 18 EP, JCOM for EOT award, 9556 NEC awarded last month, MOVSM...im praying thats good enough to outweigh the missing sea time as a YN

I also hope it gets you over the hump because the limited sea time for YNs isn't your fault. I see it all the time where it is so hard for you guys to find a sea duty billet yet someone will always tell you that you need "LPO at sea". Well you can't get that if the Navy has no billets for you.

Any Chiefs in here made it first time up? If so, what kind of things did you have under your belt?

I made it first time up last year. I am FTS. Here is a brief synopsis of my resume:

TIS-10yrs

Evals: E6-MP(frocked 2/3), MP(#2), EP(1/39) E5- MP, MP, EP(trf)

Awards: SOQ(3), SOY, 3 NAMS

Educ: Masters(2), 5 Certifications through navy cool, JPME

I was lucky to work for a YNCM who is an expert in writing evals to selection boards. How your eval is written is extremely important! Most great Sailors don't get selected because their evals are not written to selection boards; they are written to please them. As an admin type myself, I have seen a lot of poorly written EP evals and lots of great MP and even P ones. Some Officers do not understand that enlisted evals are vetted differently and must be written in a different way. It's up to your Chief or CMC to educate them.

I'm really hoping I get it first time up :) OS numbers are great this year and I am really excited. Here is my resume, tell me what you guys think:

early candidate, now 9502 NEC

Xfer EP with SOQ, #3 EP, #2 of 5 frocking MP, #7 EP as E5

PPME, JPME, Associates, USMAP cert

ATTWO, CICWO, ASTAC, Departmental 3M, led Multi-cultural Committee, LPO at Sea.

1 NAM every year, last 5 years (6 altogether)

13 years in

Good luck to everyone! I'm sure we have all done our best for the "S"

When I was leaving bahrain, I tries to go on the Comfort but, the detailer told me he wouldn't send me to an at sea, LPO Billet. Didn't make sense to me at all

That's another thing. We get told me need this or we need that but some detailers could give two cents about that. They always speak of diversity and not doing two of the same units. Well I tried to go to a Cruiser my last sea tour and the detailer told me that he was sending me back to a DDG.

Maybe I've been hiding but I've never seen an OS as an ATTWO. Good stuff!!

I had to get out of my element at my last command (FFG) in a division of 16 we had 5 First Classes! Lol I got lucky to get LPO at sea towards the end of my tour. That's why you see things like ATTWO and Dept 3MA. Not just quals to pad my resume, I was good at these and trained other officers and Chiefs. All written in stone (evals). Hopefully the board recognizes that. :)

If that's the case I wouldn't be surprised to see the results released on the 1st....

Does anybody have any suggestions on what topics I should schedule for cpo365 training this month in preparation for the results?

CPO history and heritage.  That stuff is key!  MCPONs, Ships that are named after Chiefs, birthday, General Order 409, what the anchor means, ect.  I know whoever gets selected is going to be happy to have that info!

You'll be fine.  They understand that the Navy doesn't stop recognizing and awarding Sailors just because a board is happening.  Good luck!

Checked my OMPF on Monday and it was all still good to go. Checked this morning and I noticed a duplicate award in my OMPF. Had it removed once before. Hope it doesn't mess up my chances.

That's strange for sure....I wonder why that happened...

Don't know why.. but I feel nervous about my master chief being on the board

I just feel nervous all together

It makes me nervous too

I can understand that.  I have already accepted the fact that it's all out of my hands and if not this time, there is always next year.  I'm a Chicago Cubs fan...I'm used to it!

It will all pas by fairly quick. I remember when the FTS board first convened the initial week seemed like forever. After that time seemingly flew by and before I knew it results were out. With many I have seen posting I too was in the same situation with my CMC sitting the board. Truth of the matter they will never see your record due to the integrity of the board. However if you were to make it to the tank they can speak for you. This was my first time up this year and I am thankful for my selection. This forum does wonders helping time pass. Good luck to all and hope to see you in Phase II of our journey!

Used to be like that for me and my Saints until Drew Brees!

Saints fan also, so im used to ”maybe next year”

One of my sailors is a first class for 1 year and is transferring soon in September before November evaluations for first class are released, he received a frocked EP and will get a transfer EP, will he be able to take the chiefs test early even though he never got a ranked eval just a frocked and transfer EP?

Yes he will because the crocked is a regular report. I had a few guys take the exam early while in IDC school because of that very situation.

According to BUPERSINST1430.16F, they only have to have an EP on their most recent observed regular evaluation.  Since they got an EP, even though they were frocked, on a regular evaluation, as long as they get a NOB for this eval in NOV, yes they are eligible to take it a year early.
