Good luck to all board eligibles! Hopefully in the next few weeks you get the coveted "S"! For those who don't, keep charging, your time will come!

This is the best piece of advice right now. Don't slow down to wait for results, evals are right around the corner. Keep PTing, volunteer, and look to improve your position at your command. Keep building the argument!

I'm lucky to have a distraction until AUG 1st (Legal Officer, probably one of the best Navy schools I've been to, go if you ever get in the position to) yet I'm still on this forum every day torturing myself...sigh. I may have a problem.

Can you tell me more about that school?

Posted

Absolutely. I'm attending so I can be a better Chief Master-at-Arms. I know a lot of it will be courts martial and things I'll likely never deal with, but statements and evidence collection and what is and is not admissible is a huge part of the class. You could easily destroy a courts martial case by violating 4th and 5th amendment rights of the accused despite you thinking you were doing the right thing.

There are a whole lot of myths being dispelled also, like you have the right to demand a courts martial. Also, for instance, that a command wide urinalysis cannot be used for anything but an admin separation if you pop. This is because it is technically a 5th amendment violation to force you to incriminate yourself.

I'm going to be giving my Duty Master-at-Arms a whole hell of a lot of good training after this class, as well brief my triad on a whole lot of things.

We have a good amount of new members and more registering. This is a good time to remind everyone to read the guidelines.

Welcome newcomers and old-timers  :)

Someone please tell Blondie about Legal Officer school!

Latest Scuttlebutt, my LCPO is part of the Phase II planning committee and said they are anticipating a start date end of next week.

Posted

And so my blood pressure begins to rise...I have a love hate relationship with scuttlebutt.

I avoided any classes this summer just for that reason, of course I'm still about 6 classes away from my BA, I doubt I could have resisted if I only had two left.

I am just curious to see if there is anyone else in this forum that is in a similiar situation to myself.  I made First Class off the September 2012 exam so I currently only have one E-6 evaluation that was an Early Promote in November 2013.  Since my eval was an EP I was able to take the CPO exam this year, however, everyone I talk to thinks it is quite odd that I am up for Chief this year with only one E-6 eval.  Is there any other EP candidates who have only one E-6 eval in here?

I was in your boat last year with just one eval (EP).  They will look at your e-5 evals going back five years.

That is very normal. My first time up was like that. EP candidate will only have one eval since you are taking the exam early

Since I made First Class of the September 2012 exam my TIR date 1 January 2013.  Every one in my chain of command argued with me when I requested my TIR waiver for my EP until I showed them NAVADMIN 288 said the TED for this cycle was 01 Jan 2015, which would give me two years time in rate.  The thing that I thought was interesting is that they all argued with me because no one believed that I was up for Chief with only one E-6 eval.  It made me think this was the first year it happened or something since so many people in my COC were stumped.... weird.  In fact, if I wouldn't have personally looked into myself I wouldn't be board eligible this year because I would have never taken the exam thinking I wasn't eligible this year!  Thanks everyone that provided feedback!  I appreciate it!

What weight does the board put on your last two second class evals?

Question: How do I join the Selectee/ Chief group?  *Note: you must be a selectee

Answer: PM (personal message) Dogg with your full name, he will validate and then give me a yay or nay. He may require further information - just give it to him  :D

(note , I don't want to keep replying to the same questions I'm getting via email)

That's a hard question as I've been told points value are secretive. If they speak of ASP and leading you should be good.

good reminder to bring up once in awhile thanks - it keeps people calm...

Well my birthday is sunday so if results come out on the 25th I'll consider it a late birthday gift from the CNP...otherwise it'll be one hell of a party for my youngest the following weekend if results come out on the 31st/1st (and for my Nephew too since it's a big family party and their birthdays are 2 days apart)

I hear u about the birthday. Miine is Sep 16...that would be one helluva gift to get those anchors!!!
