Less than a year after its last deployment, USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) quietly departed Friday from Naval Station San Diego, Calif., for a Pacific deployment, USNI News has learned. A Pentagon official confirmed Abraham Lincoln deployed to the Pacific as part of Carrier Strike Group 3, the embarked Carrier Air Wing 9 and Arleigh Burke guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG-121), which is serving as the air defense commander platform for the CSG. No other details were available.
