Pentagon Proposes 5.2% Military Pay Increase in FY 2025, Deputy SecDef Says

Recommended Posts

The Department of Defense will propose a pay increase of 5.2 percent, Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks announced Tuesday during a Center for New American Security event.

If approved in the final Fiscal Year 2025 DOD budget, it would be the second time that the DOD increased salaries by 5.2 percent. It would also mean that service members would receive around a 10 percent increase in salary between fiscal years 2024 and 2025, Hicks said.

Pay raises, including the 5.2 percent increase in the FY 2024 budget, are one way the Department of Defense is attempting to keep people in the military, as the services continue to struggle to meet recruitment goals.
