A sailor assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt was in intensive care Thursday after suffering complications from a coronavirus infection, the Navy said.

The sailor, who tested positive for the virus March 30, had been in a 14-day isolation period on Naval Base Guam before being taken to the base hospital, the service said in a statement. https://www.stripes.com/news/pacific/uss-theodore-roosevelt-sailor-is-in-intensive-care-after-testing-positive-for-coronavirus-1.625432

      The Pentagon has revealed the existence of a forward-deployed task force in the Philippines focused on supporting Manila’s maritime operations in the South China Sea. Task Force-Ayungin, composed of American service members and named after the Philippine designation for Second Thomas Shoal, was seen for the first time on Wednesday during Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s visit to U.S. and Philippine troops in Palawan. “The task force is comprised of U.S. forces providing our Philippines allies with enhanced cooperation and interoperability for their maritime operations,” reads a Monday statement from Pentagon spokesman Maj.       Former Navy officer ‘driven by greed’ steals over $850,000 in military gear, feds say

      A former U.S. Navy officer has been sentenced for conspiring to steal over $850,000 in military gear and selling it to buyers in other countries, federal officials said. Richard Allen, 53, pleaded guilty Aug. 29 to conspiracy and six counts of money laundering.
