Sailors around the Fleet eligible to advance to Petty Officer Second Class took the Navy-wide advancement exam yesterday. The exam is 175 rating-specific questions and is graded once all answer sheets are received. The Navy uses norm-referenced scoring in the advance-to-vacancy process to give the highest number of exam points to the most knowledgeable Sailors. Scores range from 20 to 80 in each rating, with an 80 going to the Sailors that answer the most questions correctly. The exam is one factor in the Final Multiple Score.

Quotas and advancement results are scheduled to be released in late November.
