Active Duty, Full Time Support, Canvasser Recruiter and Selected Reserve E4-E6 advancement candidates will take Navy-wide advancement exams over the next few months ahead of quota determinations and advancement decisions around Thanksgiving. The 175-question exam has 150 occupational questions and 25 questions that cover professional military knowledge topics.

Selected Reserves will take their exams during drill weekends in August, and the Active Duty exams are scheduled on the first, second and third Thursday of September. Late exams for those Sailors who are unable to take the regular exam, are scheduled by the command Educational Services Officer. Exam scores are determined by the number of questions answered correctly compared to all other Sailors taking the same exam. Scores range from 20 to 80, with an 80 going to Sailors who answer the most questions correctly.
