1. Congratulations to the following personnel who have been selected for advancement to chief petty officer by the FY-18 Active-Duty and SELRES Navy E7 Selection Board. Strong competition between qualified professionals is one of the strengths of our Navy and your selection speaks highly of your abilities.

2. This NAVADMIN is not authorization for advancement. Specific dates of advancement will be published by Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center, Pensacola FL. Personnel listed below may be frocked per BUPERSINST 1430.16F if qualified. The selection list is in alphabetical order by rate within competitive category.

3. Members are directed to verify their select status via BUPERS On-Line. Read each advancement.

      Navy asking Congress for $5.7B in emergency submarine funding

      WASHINGTON — The Office of Management and Budget today delivered a request to Congress for approximately $5.7 billion in emergency funding to account for unexpected “shortfalls” in the Navy’s Virginia-class fast attack submarine program, according to a senior Navy official. The emergency funding request was accompanied by a separate “anomaly” that would permit the service to continue funding the Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine program in the event lawmakers pass a continuing resolution prior to when government funding is set to expire on Dec. 20. (Anomaly is the term the Defense Department uses when it seeks permission from Congress to spend money outside the traditional constraints of a continuing resolution.)

      U.S. Supporting Philippine Operations in South China Sea with Forward-Deployed Task Force

      The Pentagon has revealed the existence of a forward-deployed task force in the Philippines focused on supporting Manila’s maritime operations in the South China Sea. Task Force-Ayungin, composed of American service members and named after the Philippine designation for Second Thomas Shoal, was seen for the first time on Wednesday during Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s visit to U.S. and Philippine troops in Palawan. “The task force is comprised of U.S. forces providing our Philippines allies with enhanced cooperation and interoperability for their maritime operations,” reads a Monday statement from Pentagon spokesman Maj. Pete Nguyen provided to USNI News.

That's why we have a new vaccine to match the virus strains that are making people sick now," said Jeannine Pickrell, RN, Director of Population Health, TRICARE Health Plan, at the Defense Health Agency. "The benefits of getting vaccinated far outweigh the risks. Even if you do get COVID-19 after vaccination, you're much less likely to get seriously ill."
