Good morning all. Hope we get some good gauge today from the MCPON. Even if the results don't come out this week, hopefully he can let us know when to expect them. Have a good day all.

It was my policy of NO PIN =

No TA

No Special Liberty

No Special Request out of the normal requirements of a Sailor

Promotable Evaluation

No special pays that were unordinary (E4/5 living off base who is single, USMC requires all single E5 and below to live on base including Sailors and we fall under the USMC regulation when it comes to that as it is Navy's policy of CO's direction)

Good luck with PTS and let me set you up for TRS/GPS while were talking about not getting this pin.

I like the way you think.  My last squadron's policy was similar, except add that if you are dinq on your warfare qual you will be given a special SP evaluation.  They did NOT play around.

I hated those barracks, came back in in 07, place was a mess.

yeah it was not a fun 4 weeks. I had no vehicle and my DD was messed up. Didn't get a paycheck for 2 months.

I did that in TPU Great Lakes back in late 2000. I got out after 4 years and came back in. That was my duty while awaiting orders. Good Times!

I have some fond memories of that place, too.  ;)

I left Active Duty in June 01 for the Reserves and came back AD in October 02.  The good thing was they had enough people on restriction & separating to worry about that they left us OSVETS/NAVETS alone.

I had a car, so everybody was my friend.

I think there must be a big difference in the "Mess" from Ship to Field. Now if you are taking about Warfare/UPC/CFL/ATFP then i completely agree with you. Just would hate to see a shift in selection that made ppl be more concerned in all the NKO GMT completion and being concerned with what PQS's do you have compared to the next guy. Rather then proficiency at your job and leadership ability and position. And of course if its a PQS that is required to advance your own rate then it is what it is. Was just trying to state with all the classes and requirements (365 ect). I hate to see that we are trying to "teach" leaders rather then grow them and recognize them based more on performance then class time. Maybe i am way off base or just had different experiences in the NSW and MARSOC where that kind of stuff has never been our focus. Either way BEST of luck to all on getting the "S" this season!

Remember, on the precept it says you must only select candidates who are fully qualified. Qualification here may be subjective but IMO, it means you have to know all or most of the important aspects of your rating. Each rating is different. While NKO courses may not be too relevant to an engineering rating, for example, they are huge in Admin ratings. A PS1, for example, who has completed all the advanced PS and YN courses in NKO will be considered more knowledgeable and qualified. They will likely have the potential to encourage junior PSs to do the same.

Good morning and Good Luck to all of you!

??? Is there a date set for pinning? I see Sept. 16, but is that accurate?

Thanks.

According to the CPO 365 guidance from MCPON, the pinning is 16 September this year.  I know in past years if the 16th was during the weekend, the pinning was the Friday before.

Yeah all I had to do was muster at 0800 in civies then stand restiction watch once or twice a week. That consisted of escorting them to the smoking deck for a break.

I honestly think we're looking at the 31st for Triad release. I also think the MCPON will be tight-lipped in regards to release date, and his Phase II discussion will will focus on his guidance and expectations prior to it kicking off, which will give CPO qtrs time to access their plans and make sure it falls within those guidelines.

10-4. I concur.

If you were to go put money on that in Vegas, I am sure you would make cash.  I concur that is the most likely release date.  We are going to be at Seattle Sea Fair and it's going to be interesting to see how CMC delivers the news to the selectees.

I was at the exchange last night and saw one one of my Sailors who just put on first last cycle.  She told me she saw the select shirts and was thinking about buying me one and she was hoping that I would pick up this year.  It's nice to know that the Sailors I lead think that I deserve it.  Weather I pick up or not, I know I am doing the right thing.

A few of us from TTF Bangor will be riding one of the surface ships for Seafair on the 30th.  Should be an interesting fun ride, as itll be a first for me.  Not quite positive as to what ship it'll be yet.

Well, I'm on the biggest one.  If you're coming aboard let me know or if you want a tour, I can do that too.

Opinion solicitation. 2 most recent evals MP/EP strongly recommend for CPO. 3rd most recent eval welcome aboard P with a closing thats says "would make a solid LPO with proper supervision". That is the only one of its kind in my record. It is sandwiched between EP's and strong recommendations. Let's just say all it takes is getting that one guy who doesn't particularly care for you.

I think that the board will be able to see through it and know why, but I do know a very very strong first who absolutely should have been a Chief that bumped heads with his leadership, got a transfer P.  He was Sailor of the Year two years in a row at his next command, but retired as a FCPO.  I know another strong FCPO that had a mast at 4 years and 11 months that didn't pick up and had to retire.  Also was a SSOY.  On the other hand, I know guys with mediocre evals with PFA failures that have been picked up and another guy who made it with a hazing mast in his record at the 4 year mark.  You really just never know.
