After 15 years, the Navy’s littoral combat ships are still in search of a mission

SAN DIEGO — Almost 15 years ago, the U.S. Navy christened the first of a new class of warship designed to fight the Global War on Terror. The so-called littoral combat ships would be fast and agile, operating close to shore against missile-firing boats and small submarines.
Today, the Navy has a new mission — or rather, has returned to its old mission, facing off against more capable warships deployed by China and Russia. And the service is still trying to figure out what to do with its $16 billion LCS fleet.

      CFL/ACFL’s PRIMS-2 Updates - 17 APR 24

      CFL/ACFL’s PRIMS-2 UPDATES: Dual users of PRIMS-2 in Salesforce (i.e. CPPA and CFL or CPPA and ACFL) are still experiencing log in issues. A solution to fix this is underway, and we anticipate this to be corrected when we deploy another update, which is scheduled for the end of April. In regard to the inability to export / print PARFQs and med waivers within MNP., we anticipate having it resolved by the end of April. We are still experiencing issues with CFL/ACFLs not being able to see current or previous PFA records. We anticipate having this issue resolved at the end of April as well. Physical Readiness appreciates your patience and understanding as they work to get these issues resolved as soon as possible

      Late in the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2001, Brockton Hunter, a defense attorney in Minnesota, was having drinks with a friend from law school. Hunter had served in the Army before becoming a lawyer; his friend had been in the CIA. The conversation turned from that day’s devastating attacks to what they felt would inevitably follow. “Both of us understood that we were going to be going to war like we hadn’t since Vietnam,” Hunter said.
