Navy sends another guided-missile destroyer through Taiwan Strait

Recommended Posts

TOKYO — The guided-missile destroyer USS Russell passed through the Taiwan Strait last week, the Navy’s seventh such transit this year and the second in three weeks as the U.S. and China continue to step up their activities in the Western Pacific.

The Russell steamed through the 110-mile-wide strait separating the island of Taiwan from mainland China over Thursday and Friday, according to a statement from Cmdr. Reann Mommsen, a spokeswoman for the 7th Fleet. https://www.stripes.com/news/pacific/navy-sends-another-guided-missile-destroyer-through-taiwan-strait-1.632855
