WASHINGTON — The Department of Veterans Affairs wrongly denies benefits to thousands of veterans claiming they suffer from military sexual trauma, potentially causing stress and psychological harm, a government watchdog reported Tuesday.

The VA denied 5,500 of 12,000 claims submitted in fiscal year 2017 by veterans who said they suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder related to a sexual assault that occurred during their military service. https://www.stripes.com/news/ig-finds-the-va-wrongly-denies-benefits-to-victims-of-military-sexual-trauma-1.543626
