Sailor Dies Following Marine Helicopter Accident at Camp Pendleton

A sailor died Saturday from injuries sustained during a helicopter accident earlier this week at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

The sailor, assigned to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing was struck by the tail rotor blade of a Marine UH-1Y Venom helicopter in the early evening on Wednesday local time, according to a statement from 3rd MAW.

The sailor was transported to the nearby Scripps La Jolla Medical Facility for treatment and was in critical condition until the sailor passed away just before 6 a.m. local time.
