I have a general question for the forum.

Today I got my FLTRES approval, I took it as a prediction of the dreaded "N". I asked around our CPO mess and nobody could offer a "that's happened before" or "that doesn't mean anything", instead it was the seaman shrug with a "I've never seen that before for someone waiting on results."

Am I giving myself undue stress by reading between the lines?

I wouldn't worry about it.  One of the guys that was selected with me was 9 days out from his retirement ceremony.

Wow a busy day today! Got to love internet hours. up to 87 pages already. I think we will break the goal of 100. Welcome all newcomers. I am hoping the results will be out next week. This week I will feel kind of trapped. Six hours  behind the East Coast and I prepare and present the Admiral's morning brief each day, so I would be in a meeting with him and all the big rigs when the results are released if it were this week. lol. Its already nerve-racking enough.

Sorry for the multiple posts.  I'm underway and the page kept timing out.

I feel your pain Chief. Same thing keeps happening to me as well.

So I can't sleep but my spouse can (by the way he's the one up for Chief). I promised myself that this year I wouldn't get worked up. That we made an agreement that we were going to focus on getting all of his Navy injuries corrected this year (surgery is already scheduled). Last year I had a somewhat public meltdown over the N (while on my front porch on base housing and screaming the F-word a lot) and so this year when it started to be time to send packages, We agreed that we were going to continue with the specialists consults and do what they recommend. This year is #6. we've spent the last 3 eligible years postponing surgical consults because this "might" happen. All it has done is worsen his condition to the point where when he's on leave he's on the heavy hitters for pain management (he won't take the stuff when he's not on leave so he can be fit for duty in case he gets called in, even though he should be on it daily). His surgery is scheduled but as it stands now it's scheduled for 2 days prior to pinning (not on purpose that was first available and neither of us looked at a calendar beyond seeing what day of the week it was). He wants to move it, I want him to wait until a list is released. Honestly at this point I don't know if it's the stress of trying not to be concerned about him getting the S (cause lets face it, there is no ignoring this time of year) or the stress of knowing that if he does he'll be postponing a much needed surgery that is keeping me from a full nights sleep. I am fortunate in that we have friends who have picked up anchors in the past 2 seasons, and one spouse in particular has been helpful in keeping me sane by reminding me of all the things that they won't let him do because of his injury, but my husband is a stubborn old school salty sailor and I worry he's going to say he can do something he can't and I'll get a phone call to meet him at medical. I don't know what I want more, him to finally get the surgery to fix the problem or his anchors.

Remember once your husband puts on anchors he will be looked at and judged even harder by his Sailors, which also means you will too. Every command function, holiday party, and so on so make sure if you decide to melt down or let loose, that you do it behind closed doors.

Under normal circumstances, I try to keep it behind closed doors. I think last year was more a combination of frustration (whole mess spending the entire time going "This is your year" leading up to the list and then going "we don't know why your name isn't on here" after) from him not making it and his talk of spending another year delaying much needed medical intervention that lead to the soliloquy on my porch last year. I volunteer for VITA, I am about to start working with NMCRS for my Fellowship hours to become a financial counselor in the military community and right now keep myself busy with completing my degree so that when he retires in 5.5 years, he can actually enjoy some of it. I will be honest I try to avoid the spouse groups on social media because it seems like it's a giant pile of drama llamas.

No rumors but a question maybe some of the Chiefs on here can help shed some light on.

For 3 years now, my husband and I have been trying to find out why 1923 is an important date for the Chief's mess. We've gotten a range of answers from I don't know to something to do with the ships. I know in the 1920s the formal paygrades were established but cannot seem to find why 1923 specifically is important.

Anyone know where we can be pointed to find that information?

Yeah but that was a monday info drop for a Wednesday triad/Thursday Public release. I think if we were going to get them this week at all yesterday would have been the day.

I consulted my magic 8-ball, while being snarky at first he finally admitted he is 50/50 on something happening today.  LOL  I am about to head out the door.  Good Lucky Everybody.   CYA this afternoon.

So this will be number 4 and I get more frustrated each year. 5 Back to back 4.0's AW/SW, LPO and Region Small Station of the Year in Recruiting, MOVSM, COM, 7 NAM's, O-Level and I-Level experience, I have served on both coasts now and still can not get selected.

The biggest flaw is no feedback. I know this has been hashed in previous years, but any advice on what to fix when we get no feedback on why we did not get selected?

As a FCPO I obviously don't know a secret formula. It has been said on here to look at list of board members and have them look at your record.

so after all the rumors floating yesterday my sources still say mid to late next week, how ever. There is chatter above of a possible early release. How early don't know, if at all. I guess best advice I can give right now is set MOD Z and prep your stations. it gonna happen eventually.

Long time "lurker", first time poster.

I know all SBE's are anxious to get the board results. Some of us Chiefs are just as anxious. Just remember, "Patience is a virtue!"

Good luck all!
